Woman arrested after boy found dead in caravan

West Midlands Police have arrested a woman for questioning after a boy was found dead in a caravan in Birmingham this morning (22 August).

Police and ambulance were called to an address in Blossomville Way, Acocks Green, at 7.25am following reports a child was unconscious at the address. 

The 10-year-old boy was taken to hospital but there was nothing could be done to save him; he was sadly pronounced dead at around 8.20am.

A 44-year-old woman from Acocks Green has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and remains in police custody.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will take place in due course to understand the precise cause of death.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Joe Davenport, said: “This is a truly tragic incident in which a young boy has been found dead.

“We understand he had some underlying health issues and was admitted to hospital recently. We’ve launched an enquiry to understand what happened in the days leading up to his death and to determine if any factors have contributed to his death.”
