Detectives have arrested a convicted robber after appealing to the public to help trace the absconded prisoner.

Robert Parton was receiving treatment at Heartland Hospital on Monday (4 November) where he threatened hospital staff before escaping.

Following a three day search, the 30-year-old was arrested in Chelmsley Wood last night (7 November) on suspicion of escaping lawful custody and remains in police custody today.

Detective Sergeant Tom Lyons, said: “We would like to thank the intense public support in helping us trace this dangerous man.

"Hundreds of people shared our appeal and lots of you got in touch, and the information provided was invaluable to helping us trace Parton."
