Two arrested after police officer injured in Walsall

Two people have been arrested after an officer was injured whilst trying to stop a suspected stolen car in Coalway Road, Walsall this afternoon (15 February).

Neighbourhood Taskforce officers in the area spotted a green Skoda Octavia suspected of being used in two bilkings earlier this morning.

When officers approached, the car drove off and struck one police officer.

Fortunately, the officer, who is based in Walsall, suffered only minor injuries to his leg.

Officers flooded the area and, thanks to local residents who directed them to where the offenders had fled, two men, aged 31 and 20, were detained minutes later.

They were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The Skoda - believed to have been stolen - has also been recovered.
