Two armed robbers have been jailed

Two armed robbers who ransacked a house before stealing two cars have been jailed.

Alex Day and Mark Motram smashed their way into a house in Oakland Road, Moseley in the early hours of the 1 October last year armed with hammers and crowbars.

They threatened a couple who were woken up as the duo trashed their home before fleeing in two Audis parked on the drive.

After tracking one of the cars through an app, officers discovered the Audi SQ5 parked up and blocked in by a Peugeot 308 in Priory Gardens.

The pair jumped out of the car and attempted to flee. Motram even attempted to evade officers by plunging into the River Cole but officers, along with Police Dog Olaf, tracked and pursued Motram until he was detained nearby. Day was also detained following a brief foot chase.
