Tributes to father fatally stabbed in Sparkhill

Relatives of a father who was fatally stabbed in Sparkhill have today paid tribute to the ‘backbone of their family.’
Hashim Khan was discovered with serious injuries in Wilton Road at just after 10.40pm on Friday (23 August).

The 37-year-old from Birmingham was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement his family said: “Hashim was a wonderful loving husband, father, brother and friend. He touched the lives of many who knew him. He was the backbone in our family.
“We are out of our minds with grief, we are shattered, broken and can barely speak to anyone. We thank everyone for their kind words and condolences.
“At this moment in time we would like as a family to be left alone to come to terms with our loss and grieve in peace.”
Officers were called to reports of disorder, involving men who are understood to be known to each other, at an address on Wilton Road.
A 35-year-old man who was found in the property with stab wounds remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Three other men, two in their 30s and one in their 40s, suffered injuries which were not serious.
A 32-year-old man who was detained on suspicion of murder is currently being treated in hospital for hand injuries he was found with upon his arrest. He will be questioned in due course.
Detectives continue to investigate and anyone with information can contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at, call 101 any time, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote log number 2972 of 23/8/19.
