Three chop shops discovered following raids in Birmingham
We’re continuing our blitz on chop shops around the West Midlands with a series of raids around Birmingham leading to the discovery of stolen cars, hundreds of parts, and thousands of pounds in cash.
Information from community intelligence led officers to search properties on Portland Road, Edgbaston, Dora Road, Bordesley Green and Sydenham Road, Small Heath, yesterday (Monday).
Around £33,000 in cash was seized, along with a number of stolen cars and hundreds of car parts believed to be from stolen vehicles.
Two men, aged 30 and 33 from Birmingham, were arrested in connection with the theft of motor vehicles and released while investigations continue.
Last summer, we launched our ‘shop a chop shop’ campaign, urging members of the public to report garages or units they believe could be taking stolen vehicles and stripping them down for spare parts.
Information can be provided to us via Live Chat on our website between 8am and midnight. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Calls aren’t recorded and callers won’t be asked for their details.
