Three arrests and two machetes seized as officers spot stolen car in Birmingham
We've made three arrests and seized two machetes after officers on patrol spotted a stolen car in Birmingham.
The Nissan Juke, which was on false plates, was seen in Genners Lane, Bartley Green, on Saturday (17 July) at about 6.30pm when it almost collided with two pedestrians.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle but it drove away and we pursued it until it came to a stop in Chatham Road, Northfield, when it hit a stationary vehicle.
Following a short foot chase officers detained three teenagers and during a search of the Nissan we found two machetes.
These have been seized for forensic examination and the Nissan, which was reported stolen from Lichfield Road, Walsall Wood overnight on July 11 to 12, has been recovered.
Three youths, two aged 16 and one aged 18, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon. One of the 16 year olds was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
All three were questioned and have now been released under investigation as our enquiries continue.
