Teen seriously injured in Wolverhampton collision

A teenage girl has been seriously injured in a collision in Wolverhampton in the early hours of this morning (24 Dec).

The 17-year-old was a passenger in a black VW Golf which collided with a BMW at the junction of Sandy Lane, Lower Street, Codsall Street and Lothians Road in Aldersley just before 2.30am. She has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two occupants in the BMW received minor injuries.

The 18-year-old driver of the Golf was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody for questioning. The road remains closed while collision investigators establish what happened.
