Teen charged with terrorism offences

A 19-year-old man will appear before Westminster Magistrates tomorrow (14 February) charged with a terrorism offence. 

Samuel Newey, from Solihull, was arrested last Friday (7 February) and charged today (13 February).

He is charged as follows:

Between 1 November and 7 November 2019, within the jurisdiction of the Central Criminal Court, Samuel Thomas Francis Newey, with the intention of assisting Daniel Newey to commit, prepare or instigate an act of terrorism, engaged in conduct in preparation for giving effect to his intention.

Contrary to Section 5(1)(b) Terrorism Act 2006.

He will appear alongside 49-year-old Paul Newey who is charged with funding terrorism.
