Teen charged with Burbury Park attack
We have charged a teenage boy with the attempted murder of a 14-year-old in Burbury Park on Tuesday (13 April).
The 14-year-old boy was stabbed repeatedly just after 7pm at the park in Lozells. He was taken to hospital where he continues to recover from his injuries.
Two 15-year-old boys were arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder. One has now been charged and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow (16 Apr). He cannot be named due to his age. The other has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Superintendent Sally Simpson said: “Our investigations into the incidents on Tuesday evening are continuing at pace and this is a significant step forward.
“We understand the shock and concern that these incidents have caused residents in the area and the wider community, and I wish to stress that we are determined to route out those who continue to cause harm to others.
“We continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward, particularly anyone who may be withholding information through a misguided sense of loyalty. We must all work together to reduce the violence we are seeing.”
