Suspected carjackers arrested following knife-point robbery

Two suspected carjackers have been arrested by West Midlands Police following the pursuit of a vehicle stolen in a knifepoint robbery just hours earlier.

Officers were initially alerted to a man in his 20s being slashed across the hand with a knife in Duddeston Mill Road, Nechells, at around 10.30pm last night (3 Dec) before offenders drove away in his Mercedes.

Quick-time enquiries led to the car being spotted by officers in Gibbins Road, Selly Oak, around 1am.

It was pursued into Bark Piece, Woodgate Valley, where two men were detained after a foot chase.

A 20-year-old man was found hiding in bushes in nearby Sommerfield Road with the help of the force's dog unit and another man, aged 23, was detained in Ox Leasow.

A subsequent search of the Mercedes uncovered cannabis and a knife.

The pair have been arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of a bladed article and drugs with intent to supply and are currently in police custody for questioning.
