Suspect arrested in Coventry off-road bike murder enquiry
We’ve arrested a man on suspicion of murder as our detectives continue to probe the killing of Thady Joe Higgins in Coventry earlier this week.
Mr Higgins died after being punched by an off-road biker he’d challenged over his reckless riding near Jubilee Crescent, Radford, on Tuesday evening.
He suffered a serious head injury and never regained consciousness.
Our detectives have been working around the clock to find the person responsible and last night took a major step in securing justice for Mr Higgins’ family with the arrest of a 20-year-old man.
The suspect, who lives in Radford, remains in police custody today for questioning.
Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, said: “This is a landmark moment in our investigation. Several arrest attempts have been made since Tuesday and yesterday a man surrendered to police for questioning.
“Our investigation continues and we’re still appealing for anyone with information about what happened – or took video or photos of the incident or an off-road bike being ridden in the Radford area on Tuesday evening – to get in touch with us.
“People can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously without leaving their name or contact details. Similarly, if anyone has CCTV or dashcam footage then I’d urge them to get in touch."
