Police appeal following suspected Birmingham BBQ shooting

Officers investigating a suspected shotgun discharge in Birmingham on Sunday (30 June) are appealing for information.

Police were called to Wellington Street in Winson Green just before 11pm following a call from a member of the public who reported hearing a shotgun discharge.

Four people who were attending a BBQ music event at the location later attended hospital with superficial injuries.

Detective Inspector Vanessa Eyles from the Force CID team, said: “I am asking for anyone with information on suspicious behaviour in the area or who witnessed the events and has not yet come forward, to speak to us.

“Even the smallest detail could help us piece together the events and understand what has happened.”

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious is urged to contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at WMP Online or call 101 and quote crime reference 20BW/154903U/19.

Alternatively people can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
