Police appeal following fatal collision in West Bromwich

Police are appealing for information after a woman has died following a collision in West Bromwich this afternoon (28 November).

Officers were called to a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian shortly after midday on Holyhead Road, near to junction 1 of the M5.

A woman in her 50s suffered serious injuries, and despite the best efforts of medical professionals, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Holyhead Road is likely to remain closed in both directions for some time between junction 1 and Halfords Lane near to The Hawthorns.

Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are investigating the circumstances leading to this tragic event and have spoken to a number of witnesses already.

"We are appealing for anyone with information or dash cam footage to get in touch as soon as possible."
