Police appeal after a woman dies in Wolverhampton collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Penn, Wolverhampton, last night (10 November).

Officers were called to Penn Road at the junction with Goldthorn Hill just before 7pm to reports of a collision between two cars.

The driver of a Chevrolet Matiz, an 82-year-old woman, was taken to hospital but despite the best efforts of medical professionals sadly died.

The 37-year-old driver of the second car, a VW Passatt, remained at the scene and is co-operating with the police investigation.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from West Midlands Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family who are being supported by one of our specialist family liaison officers.

“I would appeal directly to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us to make contact, in particular any other motorists who may have captured the incident on dashcam.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting log 2029 of 10/11 or by email FL_COLLISION_INVEST@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk. Information can also be given via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am to midnight.
