Police appeal after teenager hit in Sparkhill collision

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was hit by a car in Birmingham yesterday afternoon (Thursday 8 August).

Officers were called to Leominster Road, Sparkhill, just before 5pm after a 15-year-old girl was struck by a white Ford Fiesta as she crossed the road. She was taken to hospital where she remains with serious injuries. 

The driver of the Fiesta stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving over the prescribed limit for drugs. The 23-year-old man has been released while investigations continue. 

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said "A teenager has suffered some serious injuries and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dash-cam footage and hasn’t already spoken to us to make contact.”
