Our next Deputy Chief Constable has been announced as Vanessa Jardine.
The current Assistant Chief Constable will succeed Louisa Rolfe, who is joining the Met Police as Assistant Commissioner next month.
Vanessa said: “I’m very pleased to be appointed the new Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) of WMP.
“Since joining the force I’ve been made to feel at home not just by the officers and staff but by the community we serve.
“It has been a pleasure to work with many people from inside and outside the force and I look forward to strengthening those relationships as DCC."
Chief Constable Dave Thompson said: “I am delighted Vanessa will be my deputy. She succeeded in a talented field and is a dedicated and experienced officer whose work on the local policing portfolio has been exceptional.
“She will be a first-class DCC."
David Jamieson, the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner said: “I am delighted that Vanessa has been promoted, she will be an excellent DCC.
“Vanessa is a first rate officer who has a real wealth of experience over a distinguished career in policing. She knows the West Midlands and is dedicated to the communities of our great region.
“Vanessa will be key in delivering my police and crime plan focused on reducing crime and protecting the public. She will ensure that the West Midlands is a safe place to work, live and somewhere businesses want to invest."
