Man sentenced for sexual assault on teenager
A Birmingham man has been jailed after he sexually assaulted a teenage girl earlier this month.
Roy Foley, of Ledbury House, Tile Cross, previously admitted to inappropriately touching the underage teen at a social club on Kelynmead Road, Birmingham.
The child’s parents immediately called police after the disclosure on Saturday 2 November and he was arrested at the scene, and charged with sexual assault on a female and possession of cannabis.
At Birmingham Crown Court yesterday (28 November) the 58-year-old was sentenced to two years in prison as well as being put on the Sex Offender register and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
Detective Constable Lucy Liston, from the force’s Public Protection Unit, said: “Foley abused his position of trust and took advantage of a teenager.
“For a child to speak out and report sexual abuse is a huge deal for them and I commend the bravery of this girl for confiding in someone.
“One thing is clear, we will do everything we can to take positive action and safeguard children. I hope this verdict enables the child and her family to see some justice and experience some closure following this traumatic time."
