Dixon fired a single shot which hit his victim in the shoulder before then fleeing the scene.

She was taken to hospital and following surgery is thankfully now making a good recovery.

During a search at the house officers found a rucksack containing 10 bullets which were seized and Dixon was arrested in Derby two days later.

Dixon admitted possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, having a firearm without a licence and having ammunition without a valid certificate.

Yesterday (Monday) he was jailed for 12 years and nine months at Birmingham Crown Court.
