A man will appear in court accused of threatening a person with a knife in Birmingham city centre on Friday afternoon (25 August).

Officers arrested a man on Corporation Street at around 3.15pm following several 999 calls from the public.

Ashley Allcock, aged 27 of Vicarage Avenue, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesborough, will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on (28 Aug) charged with affray, being in possession of and threatening a person with a bladed weapon.

Sergeant Tom Lyons, from the force's investigation team, said: "I want to thank several members of the public who acted swiftly, due to their actions we were able to direct officers to the location quickly.

"No-one was hurt and we are treating this as an isolated incident."
