Man charged over internet cafe knife attack

West Midlands Police has charged a man over a knife attack on a staff member in a Birmingham internet cafe.

Jan Usman is accused of stabbing a man in the neck at the San Internet Café in Grove Lane, off Soho Road, on Friday morning.

It’s alleged the 24-year-old walked into the shop and produced a large kitchen knife before attacking a man working behind the counter.

Usman, from Coveley Grove in Winson Green, was arrested by West Midlands Police officers shortly after the 10.45am incident and last night was charged with attempted murder and knife possession.

He is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (10 June).

A 21-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious condition having suffered a stab wound to his throat; his condition is not life threatening.
