The couple were found dead at their home in Moat Road, Oldbury, at around 4am on Tuesday. Police had forced their way into their home after concerns were raised for their welfare.
They were pronounced dead at the scene and had suffered serious injuries. The post-mortems will be held tomorrow to establish the precise cause of death.
Chana was arrested a short time after the discovery, at his home in Hamilton Road, Smethwick.
This afternoon he was charged with the murders and will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow morning, (27 February).
In another development, the couple’s Toyota Aygo, which had disappeared from their home, was found this morning in Smethwick after a member of the public spotted our appeal to track down the car.
It will now be examined by forensic experts.
Det Insp Hannah Whitehouse, leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to thank people for the response to our appeal which has directly led us to recovering the car.
“We’re continuing to support the family of Jasbir and Rupinder at this awful time."
