Man charged with knifepoint bank robberies
West Midlands Police has charged a man over two bank robberies in which customers were threatened at knifepoint.
Rashpal Singh is accused of storming Coventry Building Society in Station Street East, Foleshill, just before midday on Thursday (14 Feb) and placing a knife at the throat of an elderly woman before making off with cash.
And it’s alleged he threatened another woman with a knife in Barclays bank, Fletchamstead Highway in Tile Hill, at 2.20pm the following day and fled with £4,000.
Singh, aged 39 from Elmsdale Avenue in Foleshill, was arrested by West Midlands Police officers shortly after and was yesterday charged with two counts of robbery.
He is set to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court today (18 Feb).
