Man charged following Perry Barr murder

Detectives investigating the death of Mark Lloyd have charged a man with murder. 

Mr Lloyd was left in a critical condition after being assaulted during a street robbery in Aldridge Road, Perry Barr, at around 11.10pm on Saturday 21 September.

The 39-year-old from Kingstanding sadly died in hospital on Sunday 29 September.

Sean Sweeney, aged 26, was previously remanded in custody accused of robbery. He has now been charged with murder. He is set to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court on 15 October.

Shannon Cronin, aged 23, was also charged with murder last week (2 October).

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Jim Church from force CID, said: “This was initially treated as a robbery but tragically became a murder enquiry as Mr Lloyd died from his injuries. 

“I continue to appeal for anyone who saw what happened to call us as they may have important information."
