Man charged following Castle Vale shooting 

A man has appeared at court this morning (Thursday 31 August) in connection with a shooting where a 47 year-old man received serious leg injuries on Wednesday 23 August.

Unemployed Russell Broughton, aged 47 of no fixed address appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court charged with wounding, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of class A drugs and disqualified driving.

Detectives are still appealing for any witnesses who saw what happened on Wishaw Lane, Minworth around 11.15pm and have not yet come forward to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Kerrie Martin, from force CID, said: “This was horrific incident, where a man has been shot in the legs and left to crawl to a nearby road to seek help.  We are continuing to search for the shot gun that was used.

 “If anyone has any knowledge of the whereabouts of the gun then I appeal to them to contact DS Nick Revitt by calling 101 quoting 20BE/180046R/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

“The investigation continues and I again appeal for anyone who has any information they believe would assist the case to come forward."
