Man arrested over drugs and injunction breach

Officers swooped to arrest a man suspected of drug offences and breaching a gang injunction in Birmingham today (Friday 1 February).

The 23-year-old was detained following a pre-planned operation in Bigwood Drive, Bartley Green, just before midday.

He was detained in an operation which involved firearms officers, and he has been taken into custody for questioning.

The injunction was to stay out of large parts of Birmingham and associate with others believed to be linked to criminal activity.

Inspector Dave Sanders, from West Midlands Police, said: "We take drugs offences seriously and this arrest comes on the back of community intelligence.

"An injunction is not sought lightly and anyone who fails to abide with the conditions faces arrest and the risk of being prosecuted.

"We need the community to help us to help them by being our eyes and ears and let us know about any suspicions they may have."
