Man arrested in connection with attempted abduction in Coventry
Police investigating an attempted abduction in the Radford area of Coventry yesterday afternoon, have arrested a 22-year-old man.
Officers were called to Poole Road in Radford at 4.15pm Sunday 24 September after reports a ten-year-old girl had been approached by a man driving a car.
The man, driving a blue Peugeot, pulled up alongside the child as she walked with her bike along the road and tried to force her into the car.
A member of the public managed to intervene and the man drove off.
Police searched the area and officers arrested a 22-year-old man later that afternoon on suspicion of attempted kidnap, he is currently helping with enquiries.
Detective Inspector Stuart Bell from Force CID said: “I would like to reassure the local community that investigations into the incident are currently on-going, but I would like to commend the quick-thinking actions of members of the public who were in the area and who saw what was happening yesterday and made sure the young child was safe. I would like to hear from anyone who has information and who hasn’t yet spoken to police yet to contact my officers on 101.”
