Lorry driver critical after tree collision in Tipton
A lorry driver has been seriously injured in a collision on the Birmingham New Road in Tipton this morning (Tuesday 23 October).
It took place just before 8:30am when a lorry collided with a tree.
The road is closed in both directions and will be for several hours while specialist reconstruction staff examine the scene to establish what happened.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to contact them.
Sergeant Lee Froggatt, from the force traffic unit, said: "We have closed the road in both directions so that forensic examinations can be carried out. This is causing significant traffic delays so please avoid the area if possible.
“I’d appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch."
