Investigation launched into double shooting in Smethwick

An investigation has been launched into a double shooting which happened in Smethwick last night (31 March).

We were called to reports of a disorder and a shooting in Poplar Road, Smethwick at just before 10pm.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, were taken to hospital with serious injuries where they remain in a stable condition.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in police custody.

An investigation is underway and detectives are appealing to anyone who has any information to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Jackie Nicholson from force CID, said: “We’re doing all we can to understand the circumstances, find those responsible and take robust action against those who think it’s acceptable to carry weapons on our streets.

“I would urge anyone with information, or if anyone was in the area has dash-cam footage, to please get in touch as soon as possible."
