Gang suspects charged over drugs den and gun finds

We’ve charged members of a suspected crime gang with running a drugs factory in Birmingham.

It follows the discovery of a drugs den in Jockey Road, Sutton Coldfield, on New Year’s Eve where cannabis valued at £115,000 was seized.

Officers also recovered two handguns and ammunition.

Five men, all Albanian nationals, have now been charged with firearms possession and drug dealing.

They are:
•    Amandj Hamzai (34) and 35-year-old Lefter Pashaj from Manor Road in Streetly
•    Dhimiter Todheri aged 38 of no fixed address 
•    Klajdi Skendaj aged 28 from Turnberry Road, Perry Barr 
•    …and Alket Konti aged 39 from Calshot Road, Great Barr

All five have been charged with two counts of possessing banned firearms, one count of possessing ammunition, cultivating cannabis, and possession with intent to supply cannabis. 

They were due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (2 Jan).

The drugs warrant was executed by Sutton Coldfield neighbourhood officers on the back of information supplied by members of the public.
