Chop shop discovered in Birmingham

We’ve recovered a stolen car and discovered a haul of vehicle parts after swooping on a chop shop in Birmingham today (22 May).

We carried out a raid on a unit in Factory Road, Handsworth, just before midday after acting upon information around a car stolen in the early hours of the morning.

Officers found the Ford Kuga which had been taken from Erdington and the shells of two other stolen vehicles along with a range of parts.

No arrests have been made at this stage but we’re progressing our enquiries.

Our ’Shop a Chop Shop’ campaign has seen more than a hundred shut down, and we urge members of the public to report garages or units they believe could be taking stolen vehicles and stripping them down for spare parts.

Information can be provided to us via Live Chat on our website between 8am and midnight.

Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
