Arrest made in Small Heath murder investigation
Detectives investigating the death of 16-year-old Abdullah Muhammad have arrested a Walsall man on suspicion of murder.
The 19-year-old is currently in police custody for questioning as part of the investigation into the fatal stabbing in Herbert Road, Small Heath, at around 8pm on Wednesday 20 February.
Despite the best efforts of medics, Abdullah was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Specialist officers continue to support Abdullah’s family at this difficult time.
Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from the force’s homicide team, said: “My thought remains with Abdullah’s family who are devastated by his tragic and untimely death. They have been kept fully updated with this development.
“This arrest is a significant step forward in our investigation and we’re doing all we can to bring those responsible to justice.
“We need answers for Abdullah’s family, friends and the wider community who are saddened and shocked at the loss of another young life.
“I continue to appeal to anyone who has any information and has not yet come forward to contact us at the earliest opportunity.”
