Kane Jordan guilty of causing death by careless driving
A driver who failed to stop at a crossroads and caused a three-car collision which killed ’a talented carpenter-joiner’ in Solihull has been convicted of causing his death.
Simon Taylor, aged 34, died instantly when his car was hit in Balsall Common on the evening of 5 December, 2019.
Birmingham man charged over domestic stabbing
We’ve charged a man over a domestic stabbing that’s left a woman seriously ill in hospital.
Matthew Elwell is accused of attacking the victim – a 33-year-old woman who’s known to him – at an address in Farndon Road, Birmingham, on Wednesday afternoon (14 April).
Teen charged with Burbury Park attack
We have charged a teenage boy with the attempted murder of a 14-year-old in Burbury Park on Tuesday (13 April).
The 14-year-old boy was stabbed repeatedly just after 7pm at the park in Lozells. He was taken to hospital where he continues to recover from his injuries.

Arrest made following Birmingham shooting
We’ve arrested a man in connection with a double shooting in Birmingham last night (13 April).
The two men were shot in Western Road at around 5.30pm.
Sadly a 31-year-old man died from his injuries. The other man, aged 22, remains in hospital in a critical condition.
11 cars seized, nine stop searches and one foot chase in busy day of proactive roads policing
We seized 11 cars, stopped and searched a further nine and chased a passenger down who fled their vehicle during a packed day policing the roads last weekend.
Officers across Coventry launched the proactive operation in a crackdown on crime on Saturday (10 April).
Two arrested in connection with baby's death in Bilston
Yesterday (Sunday 11 April) we issued an appeal to find the mother of a baby who was found dead in a supermarket car park in Bilston just after 9am.
Fortunately, we identified the mother as a result of our appeal and she was taken to hospital to receive appropriate care.

Murder arrest as man dies after being run over in Birmingham
We’ve launched a murder investigation after the death of a man who was run over on a car park in Birmingham last night (Friday).
Our officers were called to reports of disorder on the car park of Halfords on Coventry Road, Sheldon, just before midnight.
