A man who raped an 11-year-old girl over three decades ago when she was staying at his home with her friend has been jailed for 17 years.

The victim, who is now in her late 40s, only found courage to tell police what had happened to her two years ago.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Remal Hunt, who was shot dead on 18 April in Church Road, Erdington. 

Remal, 28, was found with a gunshot wound to his chest and despite the best efforts of emergency services, died a short time later.

A man armed with an axe has been jailed for seven years following a robbery at a Walsall shop in January. 

Zia Rafiq, 38, stormed into the Lifestyle Express Store on Wolverhampton Road in Birchills, Walsall on 17 January, demanding money.

Two men have been charged in connection with the death of Jordan Moazami.

Jordan, 18, was found with serious injuries in Tennal Road after officers were called to reports of a disorder at around 7.15pm on Wednesday (24 April).

Trevor ‘Gordon’ Caldicott was struck by a blue VW Passat in Washwood Heath Road, Ward End just before 9.20pm on Saturday (20 April).

Detectives are investigating reports of a teenager being chased through Radley’s Park by a group of teens carrying weapons yesterday evening (Saturday 20 April).

It’s believed that the group then got onto the number 17 bus on Hob Moor Road in Small Heath just before 6pm.

PC Russ Sutheran came up with the idea of putting a GPS tracker in the pensioner’s shoes after he was repeatedly reported missing from his Birmingham home.
