Appeal to trace witnesses after fatal assault in Birmingham

We're asking for your help to identify these two men.

Two witnesses

We want to speak to them as we believe they are vital witnesses to an attack just off Broad Street, Birmingham in which a 50-year-old man was fatally injured.

Officers investigating the death of Matthew Carroll on Sunday, 29 August, have charged a 33-year-old man with manslaughter.

But our investigations are continuing as we work to identify all those involved. We are also supporting Mr Carroll’s family at this difficult time and officers are keeping them updated of developments as enquiries continue to bring all those involved to justice.

We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at around 1.30am and who has not yet spoken with officers.

We also believe some people filmed the incident on mobile phones and we'd urge them to get in touch with any footage they may have.

So if you know either of these two men, please contact us via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk quoting log 285 of 29 August. Alternatively you can ring the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or speak to us on 101.
