Appeal following fatal collision in Wolverhampton

A teenage girl who was seriously injured in a collision in Wolverhampton on Thursday (24 December) has died. 

The 17-year-old was a passenger in a black VW Golf which collided with a BMW at the junction of Sandy Lane, Lower Street, Codsall Road and Lothians Road in Aldersley just before 2.30am. 
 
The teenager was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she sadly passed away the same day. 

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation as enquiries continue. 
 
Sgt Dean Caswell from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time. 
 
“I would urge anyone with information to get in touch quoting log 309 24/12 with anything that might help our investigation.”
