Appeal after woman dies following Alum Rock collision
We’re appealing for witnesses and information after a woman died almost two weeks after being hit by a car in Birmingham.
Sultan Bi was struck by a Toyota Corolla Verso on the car park near Azad Supermarket, Alum Rock Road, at around 10.50am on 4 March.
The 62-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with fractures to her spine but she sadly passed away on 16 March.
Her family said: "Our mum was the most loving and caring person, she was a beautiful mother, grandma, nan, auntie and friend to many people and leaves a huge void in all our lives.
"We urge witnesses to come forward with any information surrounding the incident, however small they feel.
"We are devastated by the loss of our mum, our lives will be empty without her. We ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time.
The driver of the Corolla, a 69-year-old man, remained at the scene and is helping us with our enquiries.
Sergeant Alan Hands, from the serious collision investigation unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of Ms Bi at this terrible time.
"We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the Alum Rock area around the time of the collision and may have information to assist our enquiries."
Information can be given by contacting collision investigators on FL_COLLISION_INVEST@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk or via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight. Quote log 1202 of 4/3/20.
