Appeal after pedestrian struck by car in Birmingham

We are appealing for information after a pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in Birmingham this afternoon (17 November). 
 
The man in his 40s was hit by a black VW Golf on Dolphin Lane, Birmingham at 12.30 today and has been taken to hospital in a critical condition. 
 
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting us with our enquiries. 
 
The road is currently closed between Norland Road and Shirley Road while we forensically examine the scene. Please avoid the area. 
 
We are urgently appealing for anyone with information or with dash cam footage to contact us, so we can piece together the moments leading to this collision.
