Wolverhampton man charged with mother’s murder
West Midlands Police have charged a man with his mother’s murder after her body was found at the family home in Wolverhampton.
Matthew Page was arrested on Friday evening (1 Feb) following the discovery of Mary Page’s body at an address in James Street, Wolverhampton.
A post mortem examination carried out yesterday (2 Feb) was inconclusive and unable to determine the precise cause of death – but officers have confirmed the 68-year-old had suffered a head injury.
The 40-year-old van driver was questioned yesterday by West Midlands Police detectives and last night charged with murder.
He is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court tomorrow (4 Feb).
Mrs Page’s relatives are being supported by a specialist police Family Liaison Officer at this tragic time – and they have issued a brief tribute to her and released a photograph.
The statement reads: “Mary Page: a kind animal lover and mother whose life was tragically cut short; she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.”
