Three arrested following help from the public

Three people have been arrested with help from the public after a catalytic converter was stolen in Alum Rock yesterday (16 September).

A member of the public who saw three people trying to take a catalytic converter from his car alerted officers, before the suspects fled in a suspected stolen car.

The car failed to stop for police before it was abandoned and the group ran from it on Alum Rock Road.

With the help of passers-by, two teenagers and a man were arrested on suspicion of offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and assault, after a member of the public was punched while trying to detain a suspect.

We would like to thank the members of the public for their quick thinking as investigations continue.
